EV Charger Installer Geelong & Melbourne West

Stop Relying on a Power Point

A standard 10A outlet gives you roughly 13km of range per hour — charging a 75kWh battery from flat takes over 30 hours. A dedicated 7kW home charger cuts that to 8 hours or less, and does it safely on a circuit designed for continuous high-current draw.

LCK Electrical handles the complete job: site assessment, dedicated circuit wiring, charger supply and mounting, and the Certificate of Electrical Safety. You don’t need to coordinate multiple trades. We’re fully licensed, we carry stock of the most common chargers, and we can usually install within 3 to 5 business days.

What’s Included

Everything in One Visit

No hidden extras. Here’s exactly what every EV charger installation covers.

Site Assessment

We check switchboard capacity, cable run distance, wall and ceiling structure, and confirm the right charger for your vehicle — all before providing a fixed quote.

Charger Supply

We source and deliver the unit, or install one you’ve already purchased. We carry Tesla Wall Connector, Ocular, Zappi, JuiceBox, and EVSE Halo stock.

Dedicated 32A Circuit

New circuit from your switchboard to the charger location, including the circuit breaker. Every EV charger requires its own dedicated circuit — never share with other loads.

Switchboard Assessment

About 30% of homes built before 2000 need a switchboard upgrade before installation. We assess this upfront and quote the combined job — one visit, one certificate.

Mounting & Commissioning

Wall or pedestal mounting, outdoor-rated enclosures where required, full load test, and app pairing for smart chargers (Tesla Wall Connector, Ocular IO, JuiceBox).

Certificate of Electrical Safety

Issued and lodged with Energy Safe Victoria as required by law. Included in every installation — not an add-on.

FAQs

EV Charger Installation Questions

What homeowners in Geelong and Melbourne’s west ask us most.

Most homeowners pay $1,200 to $2,500 for a standard 7kW installation, charger included. Homes that need a switchboard upgrade first add another $1,500 to $3,000. We provide a fixed written quote after the site assessment — no surprises.

For most Melbourne households, a 7kW single-phase charger is the right answer. It’s compatible with every EV sold in Australia, charges overnight without issue, and doesn’t require three-phase power. If you cover more than 250km daily or already have three-phase supply, a 22kW unit makes sense — but check your car first. Most EVs cap AC charging at 7.2kW regardless of charger output.

Not always — but you need an assessment. An EV charger draws a continuous 32A load requiring a dedicated circuit. If your board is fuse-based, lacks RCDs, or has no spare capacity, it needs work first. We assess this during the site visit and quote both jobs together if needed. Combining them saves $400 to $600 versus booking separately.

Yes, but it requires Body Corporate approval in most cases. Under the Owners Corporations Act 2006, you can formally request approval and the Body Corporate must consider it reasonably. The installation is more complex than a house — typically needs sub-metering and a dedicated circuit from the building’s distribution board. Costs run $2,500 to $4,500. We can advise on the technical spec for your Body Corporate application.

The Victorian Government’s $3,000 EV rebate scheme closed in June 2024. As of April 2026, there are no state-specific rebates for home EV charger hardware or installation in Victoria. However, time-of-use electricity tariffs can cut overnight charging to 8–10 cents per kWh compared to 30–40 cents peak — worth $600 to $900 annually for a typical EV.

Yes. Smart chargers like the Zappi or Ocular IO detect surplus solar generation and divert it to your EV before it exports to the grid. On a clear day in Geelong or Melbourne’s west with a 6.6kW solar system, you can add 25 to 35km of range at effectively zero cost. We check charger-inverter compatibility as part of every site assessment.
